What is Project B.A.R.R.I.O?
Project B.A.R.R.I.O. (Building Art, Rhythm, Roots, Identity & Outreach) is a community-based initiative created by UGD that offers free dance workshops and low-cost street dance competitions. Activities will be held in Downtown Fresno and at local dance studio HQ Dance Studio. Project B.A.R.R.I.O. is designed to serve youth and young adults, foster community engagement, celebrate cultural expression through street dance, and make the art of dance more accessible to underserved populations.
How Project B.A.R.R.I.O was created
the three of us have been in the Fresno dance community for nearly 10 years and our goal as a crew has always been to support Fresno's street dance scene. Since we began hosting events, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many incredible dancers and lovers of dance.
Many of these dancers come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We believe all dancers should have the opportunity to showcase their art and be able to hone their craft regardless of their circumstances.
So, we created Project B.A.R.R.I.O to provide those opportunities to everyone in the community. Through free dance workshops and low-cost events we hope to bring together dancers in Fresno to celebrate the art of street dance.
We hope to see you at one of our events and if you are interested in supporting this project please message us for more information, thank you for all the support over the years and we are excited to help keep street dance alive in Fresno
